South America nations found union: bbc.co.ukThe leaders of 12 South American nations have formed a regional body aimed at boosting economic and political integration in the region.
At a summit in Brazil, they signed a treaty which created the Union of South American Nations (Unasur).
Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said the move showed that South America was becoming a "global player".
The Unasur members are Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, ---Uruguay and Venezuela.

"Economic and political integration" is just another way to describe regionally-managed sections of a single world government. This announcement must be seen as a huge development, another giant step in the overall scheme....which U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown is calling the "new dawn" or the new global covenant.
The South American Union joins the European Union, the soon to be Mediterranean Union, the secretive North American Union (Canamerexico), and Africom, in the Agenda 21 regionalized governing of the globe.
Say goodbye to sovereign nations...including this one (why do you think they call it the 'homeland'?).
