Martin Luther 1953 - [Original Full Length Movie - Well Worth Watching]

Romans 1:17 'The just shall live by faith'. Martin Luther's eyes were opened to the truth of this single verse of scripture setting in motion a chain of events that would break the power of the Catholic Church that had ruled over the world with an iron-fist through the long centuries of the middle ages. The world would be forever changed.

John Hus 1415 Burned At The Stake For Exposing Catholic Church Heresy And Corruption [1977 b/w]

"Jan Hus (c. 1369–1415) took a stand opposing the many abuses he saw in the Roman Catholic Church, such as simony (the act of selling church offices or roles [Acts 8:18-21]), the sale of indulgences (granting remission of sins in purgatory for a price) and pilgrimages to view relics. Hus’ stance created many enemies amid his fellow clergy. Hus was imprisoned. He appeared before the Council at Constance several times. Unwilling to recant, on July 6, 1415, Hus was sentenced to death as a heretic and turned over to the secular authorities to be burned at the stake. Following his death, his ashes were thrown into the Rhine.  -- Most of all, however, both Hus and Luther inspired reform movements that could not be stopped." [From: brief bio - link at page]

Messiah - A Sacred Oratorio, Handel; London 2006 Barbican - Colin Davis [Full Length]

Handel's Messiah - 1741: Composed by George Frideric Handel in 1741 over a brief 24-day period (260 pages), the correct title is simply "Messiah". It is an oratorio. Acclaimed through the centuries as the greatest musical composition ever written, the term 'inspired' has often been suggested in attempting to describe the work. Whether that be the case or not, certainly no greater subject matter were ever possible than that of this 'oratorio'. Written entirely with the inspired Word of God from the King James Bible, it is a presentation of the Saviour of the world, the Lord Jesus Christ, from the prophecies that went before, to His coming triumphant reign of heaven and earth. On the bottom of the manuscript Handel wrote "SDG" — Soli Deo Gloria, "To God alone the glory". Upon finishing the Alleluia chorus -- end of part II, Handel is said to have exclaimed "I did think I did see all Heaven before me and the great God himself!” In three parts:

Jeremiah Burroughs (1599-1646) - one of the 'Puritans' - well regarded in his day, by his writings is still today. Very few audio resources of Jeremiah Burroughs online, or printed in readable text format even. This particular audio in it's original unedited form as it is here is nowhere else to be found. There is one partial-recording of JBurroughs 'Earthly Mindedness' on YT but it has been 'modernized'...which is to say...stripped of it's essence. The writings of Burroughs are a treasure. Very practical, very applicable, and depending on the hearer, may be very impactful. This particular work 'A Treatise of Earthly-mindedness' - 'Who Mind Earthly Things' is widely considered a classic. Well worth the effort, time. In three parts:

John Knox 1558 'First Blast Of The Trumpet Against The Monstrous Regimen Of Women' [Women Not To Rule Over Men]

[speed clips] John Knox led the Scottish reformation of the 16th century transitioning Scotland from Catholicism to Presbyterianism. Knox is considered to be the founder of Presbyterianism. At that time Scotland and England were ruled by a succession of Queens - three 'Marys' and one Elizabeth. This historical and now famous writing was occasioned by that situation. Reference is made to some of these queens in this work.

An internet search turned up no audio recording of this work. So here now is one. Complete and unedited, not 'modernized'. Audio is a robo-voice...speeded up quite a bit, tone lowered significantly. Definitely listenable, especially with scrolling text. Careful listening in it's entirety is necessary to make an informed assessment.

Note: [quote from link] "Knox never wrote The Second Blast of the Trumpet . . . , nor any other of the [3] originally planned blasts, but did publish a summary of the projected Second Blast in 1558 in response to criticisms of and complaints about the vehemence of his language in The First Blast...." -- Full text: https://tinyurl.com/ya95g7c6 [Internet Archive]
