Senate Democrats block must-pass defense policy bill over Iran war objections

Washington — Senate Democrats blocked a must-pass annual defense policy bill from moving forward on Tuesday as they voiced opposition to the Trump administration's handling of the war with Iran.

In a 50 to 46 vote, the Senate opposed an initial procedural vote to advance the National Defense Authorization Act. Senate Majority Leader John Thune voted against it a move that allows him to bring up the bill again. [full article at link]

The first four (in the top video) are taken from Psalms 2: "Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing" (v.1)? is the question asked by the psalmist...who then notes that "The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed" (v.2). Such is truly the case in the world today...people raging and imagining...kings and rulers taking counsel together...against the LORD and his anointed - the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.. to cast away their cords. Why there could not possibly be any more vain of a thing to attempt than this - to free themselves from the rightful governorship of Almighty God the LORD their creator - which they shall indeed find out one day; which unfortunately for them they will only learn 'the hard way' - on that day when he breaks them with a rod of iron...and dashes them to pieces like a potter's vessel [Ps. 2:9; Rev. 19:13-16]. Handel's Messiah – 1741 [full length]

Composed by George Frideric Handel in 1741 over a brief 24-day period (260 pages), the correct title is simply "Messiah". It is an oratorio. Acclaimed through the centuries as the greatest musical composition ever written, the term 'inspired' has often been suggested in attempting to describe the work. Whether that be the case or not, certainly no greater subject matter were ever possible than that of this 'oratorio'. Written with the inspired Word of God from the King James Bible, it is a presentation of the Saviour of the world, the Lord Jesus Christ, from the prophecies that went before, to His coming triumphant reign of heaven and earth. On the bottom of the manuscript Handel wrote "SDG" — Soli Deo Gloria, "To God alone the glory". Upon finishing the Alleluia chorus -- end of part II, Handel is said to have exclaimed "I did think I did see all Heaven before me and the great God himself!” In three parts:

Psalms 94:3-4,20 'LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph? How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? [20]...Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?'

The throne of iniquity...which frameth mischief by a law. If there never had been such thrones in the world, there would not have been that mention made of them in the Scripture. But such there have been. That of Jeroboam was one, who would not suffer the people, according to the divine command, to go up to Jerusalem to worship God, who had there placed his name (1Kings 12:28-30); but spread, for them that went, nets upon Mizpah, and set snares upon Mount Tabor. (Ho 5:1) And such thrones there have been since, too many of them. Well saith the Psalmist, Shall they have fellowship with thee? No, no; God keeps his distance from them. Those that we call "stinking dunghills" are not so offensive to God as thrones of iniquity are, which shall neither be approved by him nor secured. Stay a while, Christians, and "in your patience possess ye your souls (Luke 21:19); "for the world shall see that in due time he will overturn them all (Psalms 94:23).
