The Beaverton Valley Times interviewed Patrick Allen, the director of the Oregon Health Authority, who reportedly expressed excitement at the prospect of requiring home visits of all new parents, including adoptive parents:

"When the program is complete, every new parent — this includes adoptions — would receive a series of two or three visits by someone like a nurse or other health care practitioner.

The visits could include basic health screenings for babies; hooking parents up with primary care physicians; linking them to other services; and coordinating the myriad childhood immunizations that babies need."

Allen made it clear that they were targeting all children, not just troubled families:

“This isn’t something for people in trouble. This is stuff all kids need.” Allen said."

What about the 4th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which the Cornell Law School states “originally enforced the notion that ‘each man’s home is his castle,’” and says:

The Hope Of The Christian Is Christ Himself

The teaching of the book of Revelation, above all, is, that the Lord is coming back, and that He is coming back for His people first [1 Thes. 8-10], and then to set the earth right. I know that the general thought abroad is, that when the Lord comes back, the next time, it is for the purpose of judging the world. There is no doubt He will judge [Malachi 4:1]. There is no doubt that the return of the Lord Jesus to deal with the earth is perfectly certain [Rev. 19:11]; but...that is not the Christian hope...the Christian hope relates to heaven [Eph. 2:5-6].

I repeat, then, that the hope of the Christian is not the earth being set right,—although, thank God, it will be set right,—but the hope of the Christian is Christ Himself [Titus 2:13], and Christ as coming for His blood bought people [Acts 20:28]. Why have we the Lord presenting Himself to us as the “Bright and Morning Star” in Rev. xxii. 16? Every person understands what the morning star is. It is not daylight. You never saw a man wakened up in the morning by the morning star. You must get up early to see the morning star. What wakes people up in the morning is the sunlight,—-it is daylight. What you have in this passage is that the hope of the Christian is Christ, now known in heaven as the Saviour, and as the One who is coming back for His own people, and the manner of our going up to be with Him is most blessed [1Thes. 4:16-17,18]. The Morning Star is Christ for the watching Christian [Phil. 3:20], while the world is buried in slumber.

What is the way in which the Lord Jesus Christ comes? "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye" [1 Cor. 15:51-52]. Will the world see, or be aware of that coming? I do not think so. The coming of the Saviour, as the Bridegroom, is for the bride, it is for the saved — His own beloved people.

This second article looks at how exactly the new CBP [U.S. Customs and Border Protection] system is set up. Very briefly, an existing 2017 law put in place mandatory facial ID for foreigners - having to submit to being photographed at the airport by CBP. US citizens can decline and opt-out of having the CBP airport-photo taken. Existing images are available from other sources though, which in the coming 2021 system, CBP has unilaterally claimed as their 'right' to access and use. In other words they do not need to take a photo of a person on the spot for their own CBP system because those photos already exist in other databanks and they are going to use them. Is that even legal? - and can you opt-out? Answer: the legalities are not really being addressed; and they changed the wording on the existing 2017 law to purposely obfuscate the answer on whether opting-out is possible and if so how it could be done:

• WHEREAS, the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”; and

• WHEREAS, this language has created considerable debate regarding the constitutional provision’s intended scope; and

• WHEREAS, some believe that this constitutional provision creates an individual constitutional right for citizens of the United States; and

• WHEREAS, under this “individual right theory”, the United States Constitution restricts legislative bodies from prohibiting firearm possession, or at the very least, the Second Amendment renders prohibitory and restrictive regulation presumptively unconstitutional; and

• WHEREAS, however, others contend that the prefatory language of “a well regulated militia” indicates that the framers of the United States Constitution intended only to restrict the United States Congress from legislating away a state’s right to self-defense; and

• WHEREAS, under this “collective rights theory”, the Second Amendment asserts that United States citizens do not have an individual right to possess guns and that local, state, and federal legislative bodies possess the authority to regulate firearms without implicating a constitutional right; and

• WHEREAS, these two interpretations of the Second Amendment have been considered and adopted by the United States Supreme Court; and

• WHEREAS, in 1939, the United States Supreme Court adopted a collective rights approach under United States v. Miller, 307 U.S. 174 (1939) by determining that the United States Congress could regulate a sawed-off shotgun that had moved in interstate commerce under the National Firearms Act of 1934; and

• WHEREAS, the Miller Court determined the evidence did not suggest that the shotgun had a reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well-regulated militia; and

• WHEREAS, the Court further held that the framers of the United States Constitution included the Second Amendment to ensure the effectiveness of the military; and

• WHEREAS, the precedent established under United States v. Miller stood for nearly seventy years until the United States Supreme Court revisited the issue in 2008 under District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008); and

• WHEREAS, the plaintiff in District of Columbia v. Heller challenged the constitutionality of the District of Columbia handgun ban, which is a statute that stood for thirty-two years; and

• WHEREAS, the Heller Court held that the Second Amendment established an individual right for United States citizens to possess firearms and struck down the District of Columbia handgun ban as a violation of that right; and

• WHEREAS, the majority in Heller carved out Miller as an exception to the general rule that United States citizens may possess firearms by claiming that law abiding citizens cannot use sawed-off shotguns for any law abiding purpose; and

• WHEREAS, thus, the United States Supreme Court has revitalized the discussion of whether the Second Amendment is a collective or individual constitutional right; and

• WHEREAS, in light of the numerous tragic mass shootings at schools, work places, and public events, this body believes that it is necessary to repeal or amend the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution; now, therefore,

• BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Thirtieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2019, the House of Representatives concurring, that the United States Congress is urged to propose and adopt a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution pursuant to article V of the United States Constitution to clarify the constitutional right to bear arms; and

• BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the United States Congress is requested to consider and discuss whether the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution should be repealed or amended to clarify that the right to bear arms is a collective, rather than individual, constitutional right; and

Township ‘wiped off map’ as winemaker watches life’s work destroyed on live television

ENTIRE TOWNSHIP ‘WIPED OFF THE MAP’

An entire township has been all but “wiped out” by devastating bushfires in Victoria’s southeast. Tonimbuk, which borders Bunyip State Park, was in the direct path of a massive fire that swept through over the weekend.

A map of the area from the Country Fire Authority shows a large section of black over the township. Network 10 journalist Candice Wyatt tweeted: “It’s believed the township of Tonimbuk has been all but wiped off the map”.

At the last census, Tonimbuk was home to 208 people. Winemaker Andrew Clarke is among them. As bushfires ripped through the region, he could do nothing but stare at a screen in horror and disbelief at what he was watching on live TV.

He’d left it all behind late on Saturday and got out with his wife and kids. “We’re homeless,” Mr Clarke told The Australian, bleakly, after watching his life’s work go up in flames [Sunday]. “It’s gone, the house too, it’s all gone..."

There is currently a Watch and Act alert in place for a bushfire 1.6km south west of Dargo and two other located north west of Dargo. Further warnings have been issued for Billabong, Black Snake Creek, Budgee Budgee, Cowa, Crooked River, Gibbs, Hawkhurst, Howittville, Maguires, Miowera, Peter the Swede, Shepherdson, Talbotville, Waterford, Winchester, Wongungarra.
