WASHINGTON — A US Evangelical Lutheran church has opted to allow gays and lesbians in "committed" relationships to serve in its clergy, in a controversial decision that could divide its 4.6 million US members.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), which has 10,000 congregations throughout the United States, voted Friday evening on a contentious text authorizing homosexuals in committed relationships to join the clergy.
After passionate debate, church delegates voted 559 to 451 "to open the ministry of the church to gay and lesbian pastors and other professional workers living in committed relationships," said church information director John Brook.
The text approved by the church does not make specific mention of same-sex marriage, but it provides that congregations who choose to may "recognize, support and hold publicly accountable life-long, monogamous, same-gender relationships."
For supporters of the decision, including Bishop Gary Wollersheim of the ECLA Northern Illinois Synod, it is simply a case of doing the right thing.
"It's a matter of justice, a matter of hospitality. It's what Jesus would have us do."

re: 'voted...to open the ministry'
The absolute corruption of the outward professing Christian church is near total. Every single church denomination across the land has not only been infiltrated with every conceivable type of false doctrine, but are now facing a well orchestrated arm-twisting campaign to force acceptance of the NWO sodomization-of-Christendom agenda. There is no escaping the facts, what has been unleashed by the Laodicean Lutherans will sooner than later be forcing the 'opening of the ministry' at the next denominational-door on the list. You can be one hundred percent certain that your church is somewhere on that list too. You will at some point also be forced to choose a side. Rev. 18:4
The inerrant and eternal truth of the Word of God is not something that can be voted upon, regardless of how many new-paradigm 'change agents' with ballot boxes in hand force their way in the door, trumpeting their 'enlightened' viewpoints, such as Bishop Gary Wollersheim of the ECLA Northern Illinois Synod, who claims, quoting from above: "It's a matter of justice, a matter of hospitality. It's what Jesus would have us do."

Since Wollersheim invokes the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to defend this agenda, it seems appropriate that a response with Jesus own words would be in order here:
"Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness." Luke 11:35
In this rapidly mutating brave new world of our day, any who oppose this ungodliness will be labeled 'phobic', and any who dare voice an opposing opinion will soon be guilty of hate speech.
Christian, if you will stand, prepare your hearts and minds today. Rev. 18:4
