Eddie Long Case Not Settled, Expected to Head to Court
The lawsuit against Bishop Eddie Long for sexual misconduct apparently could not be settled outside of court. The judge who said less than a month ago that the dispute was close to being resolved now says he is preparing to hear the case in court this fall.

Atlanta’s WSBTV Channel 2 first reported on Thursday that Judge Johnny Panos is looking at a trial date in August or September. Panos declined to give details of what could not be resolved during the settlement discussions.

Since February, attorneys from both parties have been actively negotiating to try to work out a compromise and settle outside of court. If the parties settled outside of court, then none of the information discussed during the mediation process would be disclosed to the public.---------------------------------------------

National Emergency Alert System Set To Launch In NYC

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A new national alert system is set to begin in New York City that will alert the public to emergencies via cell phones.

It’s called the Personal Localized Alert Network or PLAN. Presidential and local emergency messages as well as Amber Alerts would appear on cell phones equipped with special chips and software.

The Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Emergency Management Agency said the system would also warn about terrorist attacks and natural disasters.

Verizon and AT&T, the nation’s largest cell phone carriers, are already on board. Consumers would be able to opt out of all but those presidential messages.

For now, the alerts are capable on certain high-end cell phones but starting next year, all cell phones will be required to have the chip that receives alerts.

By the end of the year, the new system will be in place in New York City and Washington and in cities around the country by the end of 2012.

Bloomberg made the announcement about the new system Tuesday morning with FCC chairman Julius Genashowski and other federal and local officials.

Herbal medicines banned as EU directive comes into force

Patients have lost access to hundreds of herbal medicines today, after European regulations came into force.

Sales of all herbal remedies, except for a small number of popular products for 'mild' illness such as echinacea for colds and St John's Wort for depression have been banned.

For the first time traditional traditional products must be licensed or prescribed by a registered herbal practitioner.

Both herbal remedy practitioners and manufacturers fear they could be forced out of business as a result.

Some of the most commonly used products were saved after the Health Secretary Andrew Lansley approved a plan for the Health Professions Council to establish a register of practitioners supplying unlicensed herbal medicines.

In a statement accompanying his signing of the short-term budget agreement that passed Congress just in time to avert a government shutdown, Mr. Obama objected to the provision that would eliminate money for four czars handling health care, climate change, the auto industry and urban affairs. Conservative Republicans have long criticized Mr. Obama’s use of White House czars to oversee broad swaths of federal policy, arguing that they have enormous power yet are not accountable to Congress.

In his signing statement, Mr. Obama took issue with an obscure provision in the budget agreement, which keeps the government running through September. Mr. Obama said that the effort to cut financing from the positions conflicts with "the president’s “well-established authority to supervise and oversee the executive branch”".

The statement argued that the Congressional effort violates the separation of powers “by undermining the president’s ability to exercise his constitutional responsibilities.”

Sony, Canon Plants Knocked Out by Aftershock, Setting Back Japan Recovery

Sony Corp. (6758) and Canon Inc. (7751) were among manufacturers that shut plants in Japan following a 7.1- magnitude earthquake yesterday, delaying their recovery from last month’s record temblor.

Sony, Japan’s largest exporter of consumer electronics, said it suspended operations at two plants in Miyagi prefecture because of power outages caused by last night’s aftershock of the 9-magnitude temblor that struck March 11.

“Everyone was hoping to restart production and get back on track, and this aftershock will bring fresh interruptions,” said Steven Zhang, a technology analyst at DBS Vickers Securities in Hong Kong. “This will have a negative impact on the supply chain.”

Nikon suspended production at two plants in Miyagi, the prefecture closest to the earthquake’s epicenter off the coast of northeastern Japan.

Tokyo Electron, the world’s second-largest maker of semiconductor equipment, halted operations at three plants in Miyagi and Iwate prefectures, said Yumi Ota, a Tokyo-based spokeswoman.

NTT DoCoMo, Japan’s largest mobile-phone operator, said 1,220 base stations on its network in northern Japan were offline after yesterday’s earthquake.

Honda Chief Executive Officer Takanobu Ito said today he expects Japan’s government to set limits on electricity use.

The Tokyo-based carmaker has lost production of about 58,000 vehicles since March 11 and may not return to full output for another two to three months.

Fujitsu suspended output at a chip plant in Iwate, said Takashi Koto, a Tokyo-based spokesman.

Mike Mullen: U.S. Mission In Libya 'Limited', But No End In Sight

WASHINGTON -- Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Adm. Michael Mullen made the rounds of the morning talk shows on Sunday, and one of the main messages that emerged on Libya is that, right now, there just aren't many answers: how long the U.S. will stay involved, how long a no-fly zone will stay in place, and how much capacity the U.S. military has to sustain another conflict.

On "Fox News Sunday," host Chris Wallace pointed out to Mullen that with the U.S. at war in Iraq and Afghanistan, there were already concerns that America's armed forces were stretched too thin. "How can you take on a third operation?" asked Wallace. "Is something going to have to give?"

Mullen stressed that, at this point, the mission in Libya remains very "limited," and therefore, the U.S. military has been able to carry it out effectively.

When asked by Wallace how long America will remain involved in Libya, Mullen responded, "I don't have an exact date in mind, and I haven't been given a date by the president where U.S. military participation here would end." When asked whether, at some point, forces will be ordered to take out Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi, Mullen said, "I wouldn't speculate what the mission might be in the future."

Interestingly enough, U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel, on the very same day that the bombs began to rain down on Libya [3-19-11], introduced the latest version of his "Universal National Service Act" aka draft in the U.S. Congress. Incredible timing, considering additionally that the NWO planned conquest of Iran still looms, awaiting it's scheduled day.

Rangel's H.R. 1152 is much more than a military draft though. 'National Service" is itself actually a foundational component of a communitarian-structured society in that it provides for 'forced volunteerism' replacing government services. To quote Rangel on this note: "there are plenty of jobs".

HOW TO STUDY SCRIPTURE

It is a very difficult for anyone to attempt to prescribe for another the proper method of studying Scripture. The infinite depths of Holy Scripture, like the exhaustless resources that are in God and the moral glories of the Person of Christ, are only unfolded to faith and need. This makes it so very simple. It is not cleverness or intellectual power we need, but the simplicity of a little child. The One who composed the Holy Scriptures must open our understandings [Ps. 119:18] to receive their precious teaching. And He will do so, if only we wait on Him in real earnestness of heart [Jer. 29:13].

We must never lose sight of the weighty fact that it is as we act on what we know that our knowledge shall increase [Luke 8:18]. It will never do to sit down like a bookworm to read the Bible. We may fill our intellect with biblical knowledge, we may have the doctrines of the Bible and the letter of Scripture at our finger-tips without one particle of unction or spiritual power [1 Cor. 4:19]. We must go to Scripture as a thirsty man goes to a well; as a hungry man goes to a meal; as a mariner goes to a chart. We must go to it because we cannot do without it. We go, not merely to study, but to feed*. The instincts of the divine nature lead us to the Word of God as the new-born babe desires the milk by which he is to grow. It is by feeding on the Word that the new man grows.

Hence we may see how very real and practical is this question of how to study Scripture. It is intimately connected with our entire moral and spiritual condition, our daily walk, our actual habits and ways. God has given us His Word to form our character, to govern our conduct and shape our course. Therefore, if the Word has not a formative influence and a governing power over us, it is the height of folly to think of storing up a quantity of scriptural knowledge in the intellect. It can only puff us up and deceive us . It is a most dangerous thing to traffic in unfelt truth; it brings on a heartless indifference, levity of spirit, insensibility of conscience, which is appalling to people of serious piety [Phil. 3:18]. There is nothing that tends so to throw us completely into the hands of the enemy as a quantity of head knowledge of truth without a tender conscience, a true heart, an upright mind [Jude 11]. The mere profession of truth which does not act on the conscience and come out in the life, is one of the special dangers of the day in which our lot is cast. Better by far only to know a little in reality and power, than profess a quantity of truth that lies powerless in the region of the understanding, exerting no formative influence upon the life. I would much rather be honestly in Romans 7 than fictitiously in Romans 8. In the former case I am sure to come right, but in the latter there is no telling what I may come to.

As to the question of making use of human writings to help us in the study of Scripture, great caution is needed. No doubt the Lord may and does make use of the writings of His servants, just as He uses their oral ministry for our instruction and edification. Indeed, in the present broken and divided state of the Church, it is wonderful to mark the Lord's rich grace and tender care in feeding His beloved people with the writings of His servants.

But, we repeat, great caution is needed, earnest waiting on the Lord, that we may not abuse so precious a gift, that it may not lead us to trade on borrowed capital. If we are really dependent upon God, He will give us the right thing; He will put the right book into our hands; He will feed us with food suitable for us. Thus we receive it from Himself and hold it in communion with Himself. It is fresh, living, powerful, formative; it tells on the heart and shines in the life; and we grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ [John 6:51]. Precious growth! Would there were more of it!

Finally, we have to remember that Holy Scripture is the voice of God and the written Word is the transcript of the living Word. It is only by the Holy Spirit's teaching we can really understand Scripture, and He reveals its living depths to faith and need. Let us never forget this.

Japan’s Automakers Expect Longer Delays

DETROIT — A week after catastrophe struck Japan in the form of an earthquake, a tsunami and a nuclear crisis, manufacturers that rely on Japanese factories are concluding that their operations will be affected more severely — and for a longer time — than they had initially hoped.

“This is a serious situation, and it has the potential to affect many markets, including the Americas,” the executive, Carlos Tavares, said.

But Mr. Tavares said it could be weeks or months until the supply chain is back to normal. He just doesn’t know.

Honda... has also told dealers in the United States that it will delay taking orders for Japanese-made cars and trucks that they would normally receive in May until it has a better idea of its ability to ship them.

Tony Iskandar, the owner of Goudy Honda in Alhambra, Calif., one of Honda’s largest dealerships, said...“In the short term we’ll have enough cars, but in a few months it’s going to be crazy...” We could give them a year-old or two-year-old certified car.”

Toyota’s plants in Japan, which build nearly half the vehicles the company sells worldwide, also remain closed.

“The supply-chain problem is a much more dramatic one than what the automakers are portraying. Even if they were able to come online in two weeks, which I think is wishful thinking, there’s a couple hundred thousand units to make up already, and nobody exactly knows how long this is going to last.”

General Motors is halting output at a pickup-truck plant in Louisiana next week because it is running low on an unspecified part from Japan, with ripple effects on other G.M. operations.

Japan shuts down as economic fears grow

Japan's giant car industry has announced a major shutdown as fears grow over the economic impact of Friday’s devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami which has crippled much of the north-east of the country.

The three largest motor manufacturers – Toyota, Honda and Nissan – said they would stop production at almost all of their domestic assembly plants. The safety of the workforce and deaths were cited as reasons behind the decision. The electronics giant Sony also said it would be shutting down production.

The disaster forced the Bank of Japan (BoJ) to issue a statement, as it draws up plans for an emergency “quake budget”. The BoJ said: “The bank will continue to do its utmost, including the provision of liquidity, to ensure stability in financial markets and to secure the smooth settlement of funds, in the coming week.”

“Temporary closures of factories and oil refineries and the shutting down of power stations are likely to affect output throughout the country,” said Wolfgang Leim of Commerzbank. “Economic output may therefore shrink again slightly in the first quarter.”

Between them the three car companies closed 22 assembly plants, while Sony halted production at six of its domestic plants, including a Blu-ray factory where more than 1,000 workers were stranded yesterday.

It is certainly also worth noting here that the advantage goes once again to the global green agenda as nuclear power in the planned 'green-sustainable' future of the planet's peons has no place. None whatsoever. Nuclear tops the list of 'unsustainables' actually, a fact that anyone who has bothered to look into these things is well aware of.

Solar and wind baby, that's what's up.

And one more thing that is very troubling here. Why exactly would the Bank of Japan use such a phrase as "including the provision of liquidity" to announce their impending effort to shore up the supposedly faltering Japanese economy?

After the absolutely devastating 'tsunami' this is what they come out with? Is that some kind of sick cabalist joke?
