What: Rethink Conference
Where: Robert Schuller's Crystal Cathedral
When: January 17-19, 2008 (today thru Sat.)
quoted from website:
"Be a part of an unprecedented convergence of influential Christian and global leaders this January."
"Get inside the minds of some of today's top thinkers and innovators. What have they been thinking about in the last year? What keeps them up at night? What are they Rethinking?"
"Rethink is a convergence of thinkers, innovators and leaders from the Christian and global arenas. We’re purposely gathered a group of speakers you wouldn't necessarily expect to hear at a Christian conference. Our aim is to be immersed in the latest thoughts and perspectives of these respected cultural icons to tap into what’s happening in our world today and to grapple with how we respond."
-------------------------------
note: regarding "Get inside the minds of some of today's top thinkers" and "the latest thoughts and perspectives of these respected cultural icons", the question needs to be asked, "what saith the scripture?"
"....the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be." (Rom. 8:7)
The natural man has nothing to offer the Church of Jesus Christ, he is not now nor ever can be anything but rebellious against the LORD. His ways are not our ways. Period. And....as to the 'latest thoughts/perspectives of any cultural icons'...these are to be of no consideration....
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD." (Isa 55:8)
------------------------------------
continuing:
"Learn from over 30 of the most impactful and thought- provoking innovators and thinkers today"
To name a few:
Dr. Robert H. Schuller (co-host)
Erwin McManus (co-host)
George Barna
Rupert Murdoch
George H. W. Bush, Sr.
Larry King
Ben Stein
Dr. Cloud (clinical psychologist)
------------------------------------------------------
Here at the: emergence convergence ...you can see for yourself the "convergence of influential Christian and global leaders" who believe that by 'coming together' they can build this old world anew.
"And they said, Go to, let us build a city and a tower...." (Gen. 11:4)
The Emerging church is leading the way, well represented at the conference by many of it's most prominent leaders. Is this what the 'emerging church' is all about? Folks, there's no way around it.
Is this the future for Christianity? If you are willing to face the truth you will understand that it is indeed, although it will be "Christianity" in name alone. Do you still believe that this is how the "Kingdom of God" will be brought to the earth, by a mixture of unbelievers and those who would unite together with them to accomplish it. No, no, friend, this is no "Kingdom of God", this is something else. It's another step and is how the stage is being set for the final world ruler who according to the scripture will subdue all the world under his control (for a season):
"And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done." (Daniel 11:36)
It is written.
Christian, back to Ephesians 6:14 for a moment where we see that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. We are not to judge unbelievers. These things (apostasy, etc.) are according to the sovereign will of "the God of gods", but just the same we are not to be caught unaware. In that regard we need to always critically examine the "who and what".
This is the outworking of His eternal plan of redemption, and "the dispensation of the fullness of times." (Eph. 1:10) The rebellion of men shall be allowed to reach it's zenith, showing forth the utter bankruptcy, and then and only then will the Lord Jesus Christ return to put it down. (Rev. 19:11-16)
His bride, having been raptured, will be with Him. (more on that later)
