Rio presents our chance to create a new energy future
(Excerpted from pre-conference statement by Ban Ki-moon)
NEXT week [June 20-22], world leaders gather for a momentous occasion - the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro. Will it be a success? In my opinion, yes. To be sure, the negotiations leading up to the conference have been lengthy. Even now, there is more disagreement than agreement on the details of the so-called ''outcome document'' that will emerge. Yet that will not be the defining measure. Far more important is what the Rio conference has already accomplished. And that is to build a global movement for change.
''Rio+20'', as the conference has come to be called, is a milestone on a long road. The famous 1992 Earth Summit put sustainable development on the global agenda [Rio is the '20-yr. anniversary'].
At Rio, more than 100 heads of state and government will join about 25,000 participants to map our way ahead. For too long we have sought to burn and consume our way to prosperity. That model is dead. At Rio, we must begin to create a new one.
Governments and nation-states are not alone in driving this transformation. In Rio, more than 1000 corporate leaders from all continents will deliver a common message: business as usual no longer works.
In Rio, leaders from government, business and civil society will announce a galaxy of actions to advance these goals.
Sustainable Energy for All is the partnership model of the future. The principle is simple but powerful: the UN uses its unrivalled convening power to bring all relevant actors to the table so they can work in common cause for the common good. At bottom, this is what Rio+20 is all about. Yes, the negotiations themselves are very important. Agreements that can be committed to paper today will shape the debates of tomorrow. But Rio+20 goes beyond that. It is the expression of a dynamic global movement for change - and a big step towards the future we want.

re: "dynamic...future we want"?
Rio+20 - United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development begins next week in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Pre-conference negotiations to draft a document to be formally presented for ratification at Rio+20 UNCSD are currently underway. Reportedly there are significant disagreements, but it should be noted that these disagreements are not at all about whether or not there should be a 'global agreement', but simply over the details, i.e who, what, when, how much, etc.. This is why Ban Ki-moon remarks that the "so-called 'outcome document' that will emerge....will not be the defining measure".
Very clearly this is the case. The defining measure is that the battle to get the entire world on board to accept the "new model" of 'global-micromanagement by self-appointed elites' under the guise of environmentalism has been fully accomplished. "The old model is dead" says Ban Ki-moon, the model of "burn and consume"; and the concept of building the "global movement for change", i.e. everything 'green-regulated and controlled, including humans', has been fully accepted, with leaders from "government, business, and civil society [Agenda 21]" set to "announce a galaxy of actions to advance these goals". In line with that, "1000 corporate leaders from all continents will deliver a common message: business as usual no longer works".
To sum it up - the deed is done. This must be understood. The world is officially on board to submit to global dictatorship, ala the 'go-green' mantra, which in reality is designed only to restrict and ultimately remove all freedoms of all people worldwide. Hammering out the specifics, as could be expected, will be a work in progress, but as Ban Ki-moon points out, that is not important. The "common message" is the real message of Rio+20 - business as usual - that's over earthlings, get used to it. Absolute control over every activity and every person on the planet - this is "the future we want" - and we're doing it.
The Word of God calls this "dynamic" totalitarian future the 666 kingdom of Antichrist. And that future is taking shape as never before seen. Believe it or not. Rev. 18:4

Forget about fictitious standards for 'carbon emissions' in 2020 or 2050, this must be done now, and it must take the form of unaccountable global authorities.
