Ninja Swords now banned in the UK
A ban on ninja swords in the UK came into force on 1 August [2025] after the weapons were used in a number of high-profile murders in recent years.* Anyone found possessing such a ninja sword [many/types/other types] in private could face six months in prison, and this could later increase to up to two years.
The government has also pledged to tackle the sale of weapons online, which would require retailers to report bulk or suspicious knife orders to the police, put in place more stringent age-verification checks and impose significant fines on tech executives whose platforms fail to prevent illegal sales.
Numerous types of bladed weapons are specifically banned from being owned in the UK. The average kitchen knife is legal, although it is illegal to carry one in a threatening way.

Machetes To Be Banned In Australia Sept 2025
From 1 September 2025, it will be illegal to own, use, carry, transport, sell and buy machetes in Victoria [2nd largest state 2nd most populated in Australia], unless you are covered by an exemption or valid approval.
Exemptions allow people to keep, use or sell a machete if they have a legitimate reason. A full list of machete-related exemptions is listed in the Governor In Council Exemption Orders. If you’re not covered by an exemption and there’s a legitimate reason you need to keep or use a machete, you can apply for a Chief Commissioner of Police approval.
A Machete Amnesty will run from 1 September to 30 November 2025 to support the safe disposal of machetes. More than 40 safe disposal bins will be installed at select police stations across metropolitan and regional Victoria. You can hand in a machete without penalty during this time.
From 1 September 2025, machetes are banned in Victoria. Possession without exemption can lead to:
- up to 2 years in prison, or
- a fine of more than $47,000 [US 30K approx.].
