US Bank, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Citizen, Chase and PNC are shutting hundreds of branches a year
In the last 10 years, American banks have shuttered 13,000 branches for good
Banks are shutting hundreds of branches a year - this month [Jan. 2024] some 41 closures were announced in a single week and among those affected were nine US Bank locations.
Bank of America, Chase, PNC, Citizen, Capital One, First National Bank of Pennsylvania and Huntington also said they were axing branches.
Such closures deal a huge blow to customers looking to visit in person to submit a document, make a withdrawal or deposit, cash in a check or simply run through their finances with a trusted bank manager.
The Covid pandemic catalyzed the already-rapid uptake of online banking and although 2020 saw the sharpest decline in the number of branches, closures have continued.

Local bank branches slowly disappearing one by one. Becomes very inconvenient if a person has to drive across town or even further to find a bank. Obviously the intent. Less banks means less atm's around also.. make it harder to get that quick cash. Cash is of course 'the enemy' of the 'digital-everything' future the so-called powers-that-be (ptb) have envisioned for themselves*. Banks and cash apparently the strategy just keep removing until one day they are just a 'thing of the past'. February 2024 you are there..
