House Panel Approves Measure to Require Women to Register for Draft
The House Armed Services Committee on Wednesday approved by a narrow margin an amendment to a defense bill to require women to register for the draft.
Rep. Duncan Hunter, a Republican from California, proposed the amendment to lift the restriction on women registering for the selective service at a committee-wide mark-up session of the proposed fiscal 2017 National Defense Authorization Act.
"Here is why I think this is important...[said Hunter]... it doesn't matter in this debate whether you think women should be in the infantry or be in special operations...that's not what this is about. Right now the draft is sexist. Right now the draft only drafts young men. Women are excluded."
The amendment passed 32 votes to 30 votes, with strong support from female committee members.
Rep. Martha McSally, a Republican from Arizona, said she thinks this is an important discussion...Plenty of jobs in the military may need filling if a draft is put into action, McSally said.
"There could be medical positions; we could need cyber warriors," she said. "There is all sorts of positions that we would need the country ready to mobilize for, so I do think we need to make sure that people understand as we are discussing this, the intent of the draft is not to fill 100 percent of the positions with front-line infantry."

In the conservative republican church (Baptist) in our local community, church members are continually singing the praises of Israel, the nation, and how we need to bless Israel and continue giving them money. We do not hear of the truths pertaining to this country, for both men and women are forced by their government to participate in their military for a time.
I do not hear church members squealing about how terrible this is, and how women are taking over their nation, like I do within the arena of conservative, religious church folks. And we are still told that the geopolitical land of Israel is "god's chosen people", by none other than our Hebrew Roots leadership.
Yes, alas it is true - the Hebrew-Root-ers with their judaized re-teachings of sound doctrine have truly these days become 'legion' [Mark 5:1-2,9] in the 'visible church'.
One example of their numerous misdirections is the notion of the "holy land". The outward-professing church has for the most part ingested this false notion entirely. Israel as the 'holy land' is one of the prime delusions the Hebrew-rooters use as a foundation to build the rest of their pseudo-Christian judaized-interpretive system upon.
The Word of God correctly interpreted though makes very plain that There Is No "Holy Land" - CHM [1820-1896]
Great information here. The Israeli army is also praised by our conservative evangelical church systems here in our area because they have to defend themselves against the onslaught, fully knowing that both men and women are fighting over there side by side for their country. While we are praising Israel and their military out of one side of their mouth, they are complaining about women fighting on the American military team saying that this move will weaken our military causing us to be taken over by another nation. Confusion and excessive double mindedness seem to indicate that most evangelicals don't have a clue to what is really going on.
Sitting under those Hebrew Roots men and women in that Baptist church was so incredibly oppressive, no different than joining the military!
And just another side bar that may not have anything to do with your post here, but needs to be addressed here.
Why do many so called Bible believing conservative evangelicals say these words, of which I hear often, "We need another war to stimulate the American economy."
War? Killing innocent people? Oh, but all are wicked, the ones American kill anyway, there is no such thing as innocent casualties of war where the American military is concerned.
How sick of a mentality is this within the conservative church system?
