Christchurch Update: 1-1-12 New Quakes; 12-23-11 Pegasus Bay 'Newly Found Fault'

LATEST: Christchurch continues to be hammered by earthquakes with a further six this morning ranging from 5.5 to 3.5. stuff.co.nz
The largest - 5.5 - struck 5.45am and was centred 20km north east of Lyttelton at a depth of 15km and followed just five minutes later by a 4.2 and then two 4.1s at 5.54am and 6.06am and a 3.9 at 6.49am. The 5.5 shake that was 15km deep took out power in thousands of Christchurch homes, particularly in Parklands and Burwood. Orion has told Radio New Zealand that its Dallington transformer shut down automatically in the large quake, and following a check it was hoped power could be restored within two hours. Quakelive has ranked it as the 11th largest shake to hit the city.

Christchurch Quakes And "Unknown Faults" stuff.co.nz
On February 22 [2011] ...A previously unknown fault ripped apart about five kilometres deep somewhere between the Lyttelton road tunnel and Castle rock, sending the ground under Christchurch into savage paroxysms that devastated parts of the city within 20 seconds and killed 182. The June 13 [2011] quakes were also generated by a fault that nobody previously knew existed.

Another previously unknown fault "lit up" two days before Christmas, generating an early-afternoon magnitude-5.8 foreshock and a magnitude-6.0 mainshock an hour and 20 minutes later...The Pegasus Bay Fault responsible was in an area of faulting found in a marine survey by the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research in April.

The two big quakes came as a surprise to Christchurch residents, who believed the ground beneath their feet was finally settling down after the June quakes. They also served as a reminder that the quake sequence we are experiencing is probably not yet over and raised fears of what might happen if a larger fault discovered off Kaiapoi ruptures.

Both articles are from the same New Zealand source. The 'quakes' keep coming as seen. The anomalies surrounding the quakes keep coming also, which is the purpose of this post - to note the anomalies. In particular that all this activity is occurring in a place where fault lines were "previously unknown" (compare)...including as we now learn, last weeks event reported to have epicentered in Pegasus Bay [see below]. The previously unknown Pegasus fault, it is claimed, was "found" in April. Amazing that a quake would happen there only seven months later. Note the last paragraph. There it is said another even larger fault in another area has now been "discovered". Uh oh. Incredible how all these 'faults' are suddenly turning up right and left now, is it not?

Engineered or natural?

This post is a follow up on: Another Christchurch "Quake"? As Above So Below "Liquefaction"? 12-23-11 "How many more 'liquefaction events' can Christchurch withstand before "the government" decides to look for "alternative ways of using that land"? Is Christchurch being incrementally liquified off the face of the earth in a symbolized 'as-above-so-below' ritual? ...(Note also that the reported location is Pegasus Bay - named no doubt after the winged horse of Greek mythology, Pegasus. Pegasus, as the mythology goes, is the offspring of the Greek god of the sea himself, Poseidon, who has the power to cause earthquakes)" [see post for full story, follow links, connect dots]
