Apparently there is no word or phrase in the Filipino language for "storm surge" [:09, 1:50]. Wonder why. Easy - this was the first-ever so-called "storm surge" the Filipino people had ever seen - despite, no doubt, having seen hundreds of tropical storms including numerous typhoons through recorded history.
