The websites of the international credit card MasterCard and the Swedish prosecution authority are among the latest to be taken offline in the escalating technological battle over WikiLeaks, web censorship and perceived political pressure.

Co-ordinated attacks by online activists who support the site and its founder Julian Assange – who is in UK custody accused of raping two Swedish women – have seen the websites of the alleged victims' Swedish lawyer disabled, while commercial and political targets have also been subject to attack by a loose coalition of global hackers.

Operation Payback, which has been targeting commercial sites that have cut their ties with WikiLeaks for some days, has also made threats to other organisations including Twitter, which it says is suppressing the site.

Homeland Security teams up with Walmart

(CNN) -- Walmart will join the Department of Homeland Security in a program called "If You See Something, Say Something" which encourages the American public to take an active role in ensuring the safety and security of the nation, DHS said Monday.

Participating stores, eventually including 588 from 27 states, will play a short video message at select checkout locations to remind shoppers to contact local law enforcement to report suspicious activity, said a DHS statement.

"This partnership will help millions of shoppers across the nation identify and report indicators of terrorism, crime and other threats to law enforcement authorities," Napolitano said.

The program has already partnered with the Mall of America, the American Hotel & Lodging Association, Amtrak, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, sports and general aviation industries, and other organizations across the country, DHS said.

Helen Thomas Blasted For 'Zionists' Comments

Helen Thomas, the former "dean" of the White House Press Corps who lost her position over a string of anti-Semitic comments, has spoken out again, this time claiming Hollywood, the White House, Wall Street and other American institutions are "owned by the Zionists" with an anti-Arab agenda.

Thomas was a correspondent with United Press International for 57 years, an opinion columnist with Hearst Newspapers for 10 years and the senior White House reporter, covering every president since Eisenhower, until damaging comments earlier this year pushed her to retirement.

Bachmann: ‘There Needs To Be an Insurrection’ Against GOP Leaders If They Don’t Hold Straight Vote to Repeal Obamacare

Michele Bachmann (R.-Minn.), founder and chairman of the House Tea Party Caucus, told CNSNews.com that there will need to be an “insurrection” against the House Republican leadership if it does not hold an independent, straight up-or-down vote on repealing the entire Obamacare law that does not tie this repeal to other policy initiatives including any effort to “replace” elements of Obamacare with new federal health-care reforms.

CNSNews.com then asked Bachmann if she was confident that the Republican House leadership would hold a straight, up-or-down vote on the repeal of Obamacare when Republicans take majority control of the House in the next Congress.

“If they don’t,” said Bachmann, “I think there needs to be an insurrection here in Washington, D.C against our own leadership--because that is the message that’s come loud and clear out of this election: a full scale repudiation and rejection of the federal government takeover of private industry.

First Lady Enlists Faith Community to Take on Hunger, Obesity

In a conference call with interfaith groups and community leaders, Michelle Obama praised the current progress with the Let’s Move! initiative while enlisting religious leaders in a renewed effort to reduce and eliminate hunger and obesity in children. The new effort has been dubbed Let’s Move: Faith and Communities.

On the call were 10 groups, including the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, United Church of Christ's Heath Care Justice ministry and the Girl Scouts Council of the Nation's Capital.

She said the new Let's Move: Faith and Communities effort is meant to support what is already working and highlight those accomplishments. A virtual tool kit with tips and ideas is available to help groups expand their efforts under the umbrella of the Let’s Move! campaign.

There will be a Washington, D.C., kickoff event for the new faith initiative. Though the event has not yet been scheduled, the first lady invited all faith groups on the call to attend to share ideas for the new faith and community initiative, celebrate accomplishments and commit to new goals.

Already 50 groups have accepted the challenges, including First AME Church of Los Angeles, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Progressive National Baptist Convention.

Senate passes overhaul of food safety system

The Senate voted 73-25 to pass the bill. The House of Representatives backed a different version in July 2009. With their post-election session due to end by mid-December, lawmakers have just weeks to resolve their differences and send legislation to President Barack Obama to sign into law.

The legislation would deliver the biggest changes in the U.S. food safety system since 1930s.

The Senate measure would give the FDA more access to food processors' records. It also would require food makers to have a written food safety plan describing risk at their facilities and controls they use to prevent contamination.

A key difference between the two versions of the bill passed by lawmakers is language in the Senate measure applying a softer regulatory hand to small farms and food processors than to big companies.

Family-farm groups said the Senate language was a common-sense recognition that small producers who market directly in their regions operate in a different setting than multi-state or national food processors and retailers.

But industry groups like the National Cattlemen's Beef Association said there should be a single, uniform federal standard when it comes to food safety.

One interesting thing to watch, as mentioned in the above article, is the issue of some proposed 'exemptions' for "small producers that market directly to their regions". Bingo. Local farms 'marketing in their own regions' is straight out of the Agenda 21/'sustainable community' plan. It is exactly how the communitarian green-system is designed to work. Essentially each local-region feeds itself is the idea.

At these local-regional levels the A21 plan calls for 'community based management'. In other words, in the new green world, each local-regional area takes care of itself. While it is made to look as if they are getting a break now, certainly the "small producers" will eventually find themselves unable to operate without becoming part of the community based scheme.

S.510, the Food Safety Bill To Create 17,000 New Bureaucrats

On Monday, November 29, 2010, Congress will be back in session at 2:00pm and here some of what will be happening with the Food Safety Bill.

S. 510 is basically Obamacare for the food industry. It will create 17,000 new bureaucrats, whose job is going to be to harass small farmers. It will create huge regulatory burdens for small family farms and even for those who want to grown their own food. This will choke out small farms. For those who like to buy their own healthy food, forget it. It will no longer be available.

At 4:00pm, Senate will resume consideration of S.510... as provided for under the previous order.

At 6:30pm, the Senate will proceed to a cloture vote on the substitute amendment to S.510. Under the agreement reached on Thursday, if cloture is invoked, 4 motions to suspend the rules would be in order. Upon disposition of the motions, the Senate will proceed to vote on passage of the bill, as amended. Senator Reid would like to complete action on the Food Safety bill on Monday. As a result, senators should expect a late night of voting.

Teen held in alleged Portland bomb plot

Last August, Mohamed Osman Mohamud told two men who claimed to be Al Qaeda operatives that he had considered violent jihad since he was 15, and that he now was ready to commit mass slaughter.

Mohamud, 19, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Somalia, said he wanted to set off a bomb during the lighting of a giant Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving in an outdoor plaza in downtown Portland, Ore. The festive ceremony on the busiest shopping day of the year normally draws thousands of people.

But the two men were undercover FBI agents, and audio and video recorders captured that conversation and many others like it. Mohamud now sits in federal custody — the latest alleged domestic terrorist to fall for an elaborate FBI sting —

"The threat was very real," said Arthur Balizan, special agent in charge of the FBI in Oregon. "Our investigation shows that Mohamud was absolutely committed to carrying out an attack on a very grand scale."

Homeland Security shuts down dozens of Web sites without court order rawstory

The Homeland Security Department's customs enforcement division has gone on a Web site shutdown spree, closing down at least 76 domains this week, according to online reports.

While many of the web domains were sites that trafficked in counterfeit brand name goods, and some others linked to copyright-infringing file-sharing materials, at least one site was a Google-like search engine, causing alarm among web freedom advocates who worry the move steps over the line into censorship.

All the shut sites are now displaying a Homeland Security warning that copyright infringers can face up to five years in prison.

“My domain has been seized without any previous complaint or notice from any court!” the owner said, without being identified in the Torrentfreak article.
