Hawaii working on list of who gets shots first in flu pandemic
Public's input wanted on who'll be vaccinated first if outbreak strikes

State health officials want the public's views on deciding who should get vaccinated — and who should not — against the next flu pandemic that reaches the Islands.

So far, a wide-ranging advisory group of about a dozen community members representing religious groups, the chamber of commerce and even an expert in mediation have been working to set up a system that will help determine who will be inoculated first and who will have to face the pandemic unarmed, at least until more vaccine can be manufactured and shipped to Hawai'i.

*The final determination will rest with Gov. Linda Lingle.

"It's very important to involve the community," he said. [Dr. Vivek Nerurkar]

To that end, the Health Department plans a public education campaign that will begin next month to explain the project and get community opinions.

Hawai'i and five other states have been chosen to participate in a federal program to carry out further pandemic planning.

But Hawai'i health officials want to solicit a broad variety of opinions to put together a list of people — or, more likely, job categories and demographic guidelines — of who should be inoculated first.

We encourage everyone to participate in the public activities and let their voice be heard."

In an e-mail, Seaborn wrote that the Health Department wants to "get feedback from Hawai'i's residents on what they value (i.e. — canoe carvers? Single moms? Elderly? Young? Teachers? Garbage collectors?)"

Gallo also sits on the advisory group and believes "it says a lot for the state of Hawai'i how serious they take this kind of planning and want to hear community input.

• Three live one-hour broadcasts on KHNL in April. A panel of speakers will discuss who should get vaccinations during a pandemic and solicit viewer opinions on air and via e-mail. The shows are tentatively scheduled from 8 to 9 p.m. April 15, 22 and 29.
  
• An "Alternate Reality Game" will be available in late April or early May. Details are still being worked out, but the game is aimed at Island residents. People on the Mainland probably will be able to access the game as potential tourists.
• Community-based meetings around O'ahu from April through May 30, still to be scheduled.

"THE GAZETTE Northern Command is providing help in the disaster response to flooding in North Dakota, the command said Thursday in a press release.

The command will stage at the Grand Forks Air Force Base to aid the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

NorthCom will help distribute supplies and coordinate the relief effort.

A defense coordinating officer dispatched by NorthCom will act as the liaison between FEMA and NorthCom, relaying capabilities available to FEMA and coordinating movement of active-duty personnel and equipment to assist should the need arise.

Dictionary Redefines 'Marriage' to Include Same-Sex Couples

Similar to the definition of marriage under federal law, Merriam-Webster states marriage as "the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law." Every state in the nation recognizes marriage on similar terms except for Connecticut and Massachusetts.

But the dictionary runs askew from legal recognition of marriage by the federal government and almost all the states by tacking on a secondary definition that counts unions between same-sex couples as "marriage."

Obama on Saturday created a food safety working group to advise him on new rules and tools to protect the U.S. food supply and tapped two people to serve at the top of the Food and Drug Administration.

Mr. Obama said food-borne illness outbreaks have increased in recent years - including major salmonella outbreaks involving spinach in 2006, peppers or tomatoes last year, and peanuts this year. He said these and other cases show that the United States must do more than it has been doing, and he called on his food safety group, led by the secretaries of the departments of Agriculture and Health and Human Services, to give him recommendations.

Gordon Brown has vowed to forge a “global new deal” with Barack Obama when he meets the new US president for talks in Washington this week.

Will the economic and financial crisis degenerate into violent social explosions? Tomorrow, will there be civil war in Europe, the United States and Japan? That's the rather alarming conclusion that the experts of European think tank LEAP/Europe 2020 lay out in their latest bulletin dated mid-February.

In that edition, which addresses the issue of the crisis entering a phase of "global geopolitical dislocation" in the third quarter of 2009, the experts foresee a state of "generalized every man for himself" in the countries stricken by the crisis. That panic would then conclude in logical confrontations, in other words, with partial civil wars.

According to that association, made up of independent contributors from European political, economic and diverse professional circles, the most dangerous regions are those where the system of social protection is the weakest.

Thus, the crisis would be able to spark violent popular revolts, the intensity of which would be aggravated by the free circulation of firearms. Latin America, as well as the United States, are the areas most at risk.

This apocalyptic perspective could be ridiculed had not this think tank - as of February 2006 - predicted the onset and sequence of the present crisis with disturbing accuracy. So, three years ago, the association described the coming of a "global systemic crisis,"

One hope remains, a "last chance" according to LEAP, that would lie in the ability of the G-20 - which meets April 2 in London - to promulgate a "convincing and audacious" action plan. Four Volunteer-Service Bills Introduced in Congress

Responding to what he called “a moment for national service,” Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., introduced four bills Tuesday that would increase federal spending for community volunteer initiatives.

The ambitious legislation would “create the architecture and the structure that will serve as the invitation for everyone to serve,” Dodd said. The bills would target everyone from schoolchildren to the elderly and aim to create new bases of volunteers beyond the usual young-adult pool of service-program participants.

Two bills, the Summer of Service Act and the Semester of Service Act, would allow middle school and high school students to earn credits or stipends for their community-service programs.

The Encore Service Act would provide stipends and education awards to Americans 50 and older in exchange for service in their communities.

The Action Act would raise the amount awarded to AmeriCorps volunteers to pay for college tuition from the current $4,725 to $6,585 to reflect the current average tuition at a four-year college.

Mexican Drug Cartel Roundup 'Accelerating' NAU Transition

'Operation Xcellerator' Launched in Canamerexico

Federal authorities arrested more than 750 people across the country in what they describe as "the largest and hardest hitting" operation to ever target the "the very violent and dangerously powerful" drug cartel known as Sinaloa.

The cartel is being blamed for much of the violence erupting along the U.S.-Mexican border, according to officials familiar with the operation.

"International drug-trafficking organizations pose a sustained, serious threat to the safety and security as of our communities," Attorney General Eric Holder said in prepared remarks at a Washington press conference Wednesday afternoon, his first as head of the Justice Department.

"As the world grows smaller and international criminals step up their efforts to operate inside our borders, [we] will confront them head-on to keep our communities safe."

Through "Operation Xcellerator," U.S. law enforcement officials worked with counterparts in Mexico and Canada, where the Sinaloa Cartel is believed to have "distribution cells," which sell or transport the cartel's drugs.

The DEA says efforts continue to "stop the ruthless violence the traffickers inflict on innocent citizens in the U.S., Mexico and Canada."

New Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair recently warned a Senate committee that — at some point — the Mexican government may not be much help.

120,000 people pack streets of Dublin in angry protest against government's handling of economic crisis

Up to 120,000 people marched through Dublin today in an emotional and angry national demonstration over the Irish Government's handling of the economic crisis.

The demonstrators marched past the Dail (Irish Parliament) for a rally at Merrion Square, where the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (Ictu) general secretary David Begg accused a wealthy elite of "economic treason" by destroying the country's international reputation.

Originally planned as a protest at public sector cutbacks and pension levies, organisers later called on all workers, from the public and private sector, to turn out in a "national demonstration" against the Government's handling of the downturn.

Active Duty Soldier Questions Obama Eligibility, Pledges To Join Suit

A U.S. soldier on active duty in Iraq has called President Obama an "impostor" in a statement in which he affirmed plans to join as plaintiff in a challenge to Obama's eligibility to be commander in chief.

"As an active-duty officer in the United States Army, I have grave concerns about the constitutional eligibility of Barack Hussein Obama to hold the office of president of the United States," wrote Scott Easterling in a "to-whom-it-may-concern" letter.

The statement was publicized by California attorney Orly Taitz who, along with her DefendOurFreedom.us Foundation, is working on a series of legal cases seeking to uncover Obama's birth records and other documents that would reveal whether he meets the requirements of the U.S. Constitution.

Obama "has absolutely refused to provide to the American public his original birth certificate, as well as other documents which may prove or disprove his eligibility," Easterling wrote. "In fact, he has fought every attempt made by concerned citizens in their effort to force him to do so."

Taitz told WND she had advised Easterling to obtain legal counsel before making any statements regarding the commander-in-chief, but he insisted on moving forward. His contention is that as an active member of the U.S. military, he is required to follow orders from a sitting president, and he needs – on pain of court-martial – to know that Obama is eligible.

Taitz said other legal cases questioning Obama's eligibility filed by members of the military mostly have included retired officers, and courts several times have ruled they don't have standing to issue their challenge.

Easterling, however, is subject to enemy fire and certainly would have a reason to need to know the legitimacy of his orders, she argued.

"I implore all service-members and citizens to contact their senators and representatives and demand that they require Mr. Obama prove his eligibility. Our Constitution and our great nation must not be allowed to be disgraced," he wrote.

This relatively surprising development in the alleged Obama fraud case would without question be the highest profile 'non-eligible' challenge to date. Anybody's guess where this may go next, but clearly it is not at all going away. Understanding that all things NWO are 'always' according to script makes this suspect though. National Guard scraps plans to invade rural town wnd

DES MOINES, Iowa – Following publicized reports that the Army National Guard was planning a military training exercise on the streets of a rural Iowa town, the commanding officers have called off the mock "invasion."

Military spokesman Lt. Col. Greg Hapgood, however, told WND that the operation has now been "scaled back" and no longer involves an "invasion" of Arcadia.

The change in plans was based on troop evaluation, he said, not public outcry.

"Higher headquarters leadership," Hapgood told WND, "given the unit's status of training proficiency, made a decision to scale back the exercise."

Plans for the urban operation training, Hopgood explained, are still set to continue, but will be conducted in a smaller, platoon-by-platoon basis in the near vicinity of the Carroll armory.

Do not be fooled by such obviously deceptive tactics as these being used here by the "higher headquarters leadership" of the Iowan Army National Guard. Here is nothing more than a classic use of the tried and true 'two steps forward, one step back' manipulative tactic of advancing an agenda. In this case, plan military exercise and announce invasion of town, homes, etc. After the uproar, pull back 'one step' on the 'town' invasion aspect of plan, placating the public, and then proceed to conduct 'smaller' exercises right in their backyard.

Next, and very important, explain to the public that the pullback is only because the troops are not sufficiently trained at this point and that it had nothing at all to do with any opposition, so as to prepare them mentally for the next cycle of 'two steps forward, one step back'.

The so-called 'homeland', as well the planned NAU for that matter, must be ruled militarily for the global agenda to succeed. There is no other way. Even now, Mexico is being destabilized and prepared for military takeover as can be seen by any one keeping tabs on the *dramatized news reports coming out daily from Mexico.

The military is still there openly in Iowa, presumably getting the required 'training proficiency' for 'invasions', making their presence felt all the while, furthering the NWO program of martial law desensitization of this country.
