"Jones says the tour is a rendition of evangelism 100 years ago. The three men dress up in the style of that era, and Jones says: "barnstorm the country with our message and our books." While Jones admits there is an element of "goofiness" to their plan, he says their mission is "deadly serious." "We think that the church -- even Christianity -- needs an overhaul," Jones states."
"In a recent book by Tony Jones (one that is indicative of many of the movement's leaders), The New Christians...(the book)..."The New Christians" emphatically tries to convince readers that the "church is dead" (p. 4),.." "Doug Pagitt and Mark Scandrette would resonate with Jones' spirituality. The three of them were authors in the book, An Emergent Manifesto of Hope. Of that book, Pagitt says it "provides a rare glimpse inside the emerging church." This "rare glimpse" actually lays out the agenda of the movement, and in essence An Emergent Manifesto is the emerging church's coming out of the closet tribute. Pagitt says Emergent is a "call to friendship ... with the world" and this "friendship" is a "dangerous leap" in which many ways have been created to connect (p. 19). Throughout the book, these ways to connect become quite obvious. While other terms in the book are used, the concepts behind them are interspirituality (all religions coming together), panentheism (God is all creation), universalism (all are saved), and mysticism (the means by which this connecting takes place)."
The three emerging leaders plan to visit 32 cities, 6 of which they have already done. As we stated in our May report, the tour has received sponsorship from some very large organizations: Compassion International, International Bible Society, Jossey-Bass (the men's publisher), Zondervan, and Christianbook.com. While it appears that the emerging church is receiving financial and other support from mainstream evangelicalism, we are compelled here at Lighthouse Trails to issue a serious warning about this tour.

re: summer road tour peddling 'many ways' i.e. Interspirituality, panentheism, universalism, mysticism...and sponsorship from very large organizations.
First things first, this is an excellent article from Lighthouse Trails Research and should be read in it's entirety by all Christians (title is the link). Next, if you are involved with any church, or mission organizations, youth groups, Christian schools or colleges, reading so-called "Christian' literature...you need to know and understand the who, what, and how, of this planned 'overhaul of Christianity'. It is not okay to be naive and trusting because it's come to a point where it's a guarantee that you will in some form or fashion be impacted by these dark spiritual influences (above) masquerading as 'emerging truth'. This is another harsh reality. Your family and friends are being exposed to these things and often are unaware. If you are a new Christian, more likely than not, some 'well-meaning' but ignorant person you know will be trying to pull you into this by taking you to their 'church', or giving you the 'new book', etc. You will need to learn about all these things and deal with them. Do not imbibe the poison.
This little group plans to visit 32 cities, but the "New Christian" philosophy they are espousing has already permeated every aspect of organized Christianity. These 'prowlers' are being sent to take it to the next level. Overhauling Christianity is the clearly stated goal, but destroying Christianity is clearly the true intent.
For those who not afraid of words like "conspiracy", it is not difficult to see how organizations like Zondervan, International Bible Society, Jossey-Bass, and Christianbooks.com could all be involved in the sponsorship of this particular malignant outgrowth of the planned interspirituality for the global management system. These organizations have been infiltrated by these very globalists and are being used to accomplish the goal. That goal is ultimately to set themselves up as absolute masters of the "kingdoms of the world", defying God himself, whom they hate with a passion. Here is why Christianity must be destroyed.
While the outward form of Laodicean Christianity is in fact being destroyed though, the bible says of the true church of the Lord Jesus Christ..."the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matt. 16:18)
-------------------------------------------------------------
The kingdoms of the world were offered to the Lord Jesus Christ during the 40 days of temptation which he endured, but he refused the offer. The one coming, the Antichrist, will accept that very same offer. The world's stage is set and it appears to be just about time for the curtain call. This, very simply, is the gospel truth.
Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. (Matt. 4:8-10)
