Follow up on: 'Superstorm Sandy' Geo-engineered...3-28-11 Newsweek 'Apocalypse Now' Cover 10-30-12 "That weather can be modified and controlled seems to be an accepted fact anymore, although it is still a relatively difficult thing to find any cold hard factual information on exactly how extensively.. [but]..can an 'unprecedented' 11-13 ft. "storm surge" that floods New York City be man-made, even apart from being caused by a 'modifed-weather' storm system? [see: tsunami-bombs] Can a New Jersey berm be overflowed to cause flooding without it being the direct result of a 'modified weather' system, as in being directly man-caused? ... "Here is the point: Even a so-called "modified-weather superstorm" could be 'helped along' if need be to achieve a certain objective. And, with complete control of every media outlet in the country, the perception of what is happening is easily manipulated. Whatever numbers are thrown out, whatever images are used, lots of endless hype, and then that's what it is. [see post]

Risks of Hurricane Sandy-like Surge Events Rising
[Article/photo climatecentral.org; excerpted]
The track of Hurricane Sandy was unprecedented in the historical record of North Atlantic Ocean Basin hurricanes, and its deadly storm surge — while exceedingly rare — is likely to become a more frequent event as the climate continues to warm due in large part to manmade greenhouse gas emissions. Those are the conclusions of a forthcoming study from researchers at NASA and Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Observatory.
...their findings may support the idea that global warming helped influence the jet stream in ways that made the storm’s left turn more likely to occur..."Sandy’s track was made more likely by climate change in a way that is yet to be fully determined," the study said.
Hurricane Sandy, which was officially re-classified as a post-tropical storm shortly before landfall, caused heavy damage along the New Jersey shore, and caused the most extensive coastal flooding event in modern-day New York City.
The impact angle of Hurricane Sandy was its most unusual feature, ensuring the storm surge would case maximum damage, Hall said. The storm's left-hand turn put the most dangerous right-front quadrant on top of New Jersey and southeastern New York, pummeling these areas with an historic storm surge and record high waves. That, combined with astronomical high tides, led to record storm tide levels...
The researchers used statistical techniques and computer modeling to simulate millions of “synthetic" tropical cyclones in the Atlantic in order to determine the likelihood of another storm making a Sandy-esque dramatic left hook toward the coast, striking the most heavily populated region of the U.S. at a nearly perpendicular angle...The study found that Sandy’s track stands alone in the historical record dating back to 1851, and that modeling simulations showed such a track is an event that would occur about once every 714 years.
...the combination of the storm surge and astronomical high tides caused the peak storm tide during Hurricane Sandy at The Battery in Lower Manhattan to reach about 4.23 meters above mean sea level.

re: "Sandy-esque dramatic left hook...stands alone in the historical record"
How can the unexplainable be explained? The track was unprecedented, thetsunami storm surge was unprecedented, and Superstorm Sandy, so-called, as most do not realize, was not a "super" storm at all. In fact, it was not even a hurricane when it hit land - it was a "reclassified post-tropical storm". Yet even after dropping "below hurricane status" it still managed to produce a giant wave that washed over New York, and it still produced enough force to cause a levee failure that "devastated" New Jersey:
10-30-12 NEW YORK - A levee broke in northern New Jersey on Tuesday, flooding the towns of Moonachie, Little Ferry and Carlstadt with 4 to 5 feet (1.2 to 1.5 meters) of water in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, officials told Reuters...Baratta said the three towns had been "devastated" by the flood of water. The break comes after Sandy, which dropped below hurricane status just before it hit the US East Coast on Monday, flooded parts of New Jersey and New York City. [source]
But do not be concerned with the fact that the storm seemingly was not powerful enough to cause these anomalies to occur, because there is an explanation. It was because of the "impact angle", which brought some very intricate geometry into play, as the "conclusions of a forthcoming study" point out:
"The storm's left-hand turn put the most dangerous right-front quadrant on top of New Jersey and southeastern New York".
...which assessment the researchers qualify by saying that they can not really explain how that could happen, as it has never been seen before, but most likely...
"that global warming helped influence the jet stream in ways that made the storm’s left turn more likely to occur...in a way that is yet to be fully determined"
So in this case, the unexplainable 'Sandy hook' is explained with a theory, based on "global warming", but with a slight disclaimer, adding that "it is yet to be fully determined". Nevertheless, as it stands, the storm made a virtually impossible "sandy-esque left hook", produced a totally anomalous and unprecedented "storm surge", and washed much of New Jersey off the map with a levee breach of some sort. And, as is now revealed, as of just yesterday, in New Jersey, where thousands are still displaced, they are getting a 'new map' which will be used to "govern rebuilding":
New Jersey Residents Get New Map, Zoning, Sky Rocketing Insurance Premiums 1-25-13 "SEASIDE HEIGHTS, N.J. -- New federal flood maps approved Thursday that will govern rebuilding in the state following superstorm Sandy leaves many residents with a tough choice...The new guidelines will force homeowners in flood zones to spend tens of thousands of dollars to raise their houses now or pay exorbitant premiums of up to $31,000 a year for flood insurance later...Some local officials have voiced concerns about the maps, including their accuracy...He cited the example of a property in an "A" flood zone that is now in a "V zone" (where breaking waves are possible) under the new maps."
Cui bono? "Governing rebuilding" is Agenda 21 speak. Displacing populations and reclaiming desired geographic regions are Agenda 21 goals. Thousands of people still out of their homes in New Jersey, and now they are faced with new regulations, new zoning, exorbitant costs, and government dictating - Agenda 21 in action.
All of the above as a direct result of the 'Sandy hook', according to the soon to be released NASA-Columbia University study...
