Iran Opens Base at Hormuz Strait for Gulf `Defense'
Oct. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Iran opened a naval base on the Strait of Hormuz that's capable of keeping foreign forces out of the Persian Gulf, the chief of the Iranian navy said.
``With this naval base, a new line of defense was created in the Persian Gulf,'' Admiral Habibollah Sayyari was cited today as saying by state-run Fars News. ``If necessary, we can prevent any enemy from entering the Persian Gulf's strategic area.''
``The Strait of Hormuz is an international waterway, and it is not helpful for any nation to suggest that it would shut down such a vital economic zone,'' said Commander Jane Campbell, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.
The U.S. military doesn't believe the new base ``will have an impact on our current operations in the region,'' she said today in an e-mailed reply to questions.

re: 'current operations'
The U.S. is reportedly establishing a new naval base of their own in the area too...and it's only a hop, skip, and a jump away from Iran: U.S. Georgia Occupation Permanent? (9-9-08). Four bases were recently built on the Iraq/Iran border as well. see: 'Road To Iran' Agenda Bumps Up Again (6-26-08)
The language is telling as always, in this case calling the area an "international waterway", and the use of the phrase "current operations". Current operations could be construed as meaning that the professed lack of concern may not necessarily be applicable to any "future" operations though.
Any conflict in the region with the consequent disruption of the oil supply would go a long way toward the transitioning of this country into the 'green model' which is to be the method of implementing the planned dictatorial global government, which truly is the only goal.
