McLaren vs. The Bible

Infidels gone wild...

A very simple "contrast and compare" of a few things that recognized emerging church promoter Brian McLaren taught at his recent youth conference (4/9-11/08): shifting-youth

McLaren quotes taken from this conference report: article
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
McLaren versus the Bible:

1. McLaren says: Though he did not specify at Willow Creek which traditional doctrines need revision, McLaren wrote in his 2007 book "Everything Must Change" that the doctrine of hell needs radical rethinking. He argues that people who believe in hell may be inclined to dominate and take advantage of other people, rather than help them.
(hell is not real?)
The Bible says:
Proverbs 15:24 The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.
Matthew 5:29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
2Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
(How does telling the people the truth about the existence of hell, so as to steer them away from it, equate to dominating and taking advantage?)
------------------------------------------------------------
2. McLaren says: "Many of us have been increasingly critical in recent years of popular American eschatology in general, and conventional views of hell in particular," he wrote. "Simply put, if we believe that God will ultimately enforce his will by forceful domination, and will eternally torture all who resist that domination, then torture and domination become not only permissible but in some way godly."
(forcefulness.....eternal "torment"?)
The Bible says:
Jesus believed in hell...see the story of Lazarus: "the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments..." (Luke 16:19-31)
Ps. 101:8 I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD.
Isaiah 13:9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
Revelation 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up forever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
(Not only permissible, but Godly indeed..for God!)
-----------------------------------------------------------
3. McLaren says: "This eschatological understanding of a violent second coming leads us to believe (as we've said before) that in the end, even God finds it impossible to fix the world apart from violence and coercion; no one should be surprised when those shaped by this theology behave accordingly," McLaren wrote.
(How can the world be fixed...when it's full of unrepentant sinners?)
The Bible says:
Psalms 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
Rev. 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
Isaiah 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

(How does believing God's word equate to "behaving accordingly"? Almighty God alone is able to "treadeth the winepress" of His fierceness and of His wrath!)
------------------------------------------
4. McLaren says: The book of Revelation does not actually teach that there will be a new heaven and a new earth, he wrote, but that a new way of living is possible within this universe if humans will follow Jesus' example.
(Revelation does not teach a new heaven and earth?)
The Bible says:
REVELATION 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
-------------------------------------
5. McLaren says: By going to the cross, McLaren argued in his book, Jesus committed an act similar to the Chinese student at Tiananmen Square in the late 1980s -- he placed himself in harm's way to demonstrate the injustice of a society that would harm a peaceful and godly man.
The Bible says:
1 Cor. 15:-43 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures:
(In what bizzare way is there any correlation whatsoever to the protesting student in China?)
The Bible also says:
Jude 4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
-------------------------------------
6. McLaren says: In attempts to solve these problems, humans often have resorted to imperialism, revolution, scapegoating and isolation, McLaren said. But Jesus offered an alternative strategy that offers people the prosperity, equity and security they seek, he said.
Did jesus offer prosperity, equity and security, or...... hatred of the world, tribulation, and persecution....but, peace in him! (Christ)

The Bible says:

John 15:18-19 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

2Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
(looks like the truth is: hatred of the world, tribulation, and persecution....but peace in him!)
--------------------------------------------------------------
7. McLaren says: Citing the Lord's Prayer, he told conference attendees that youth ministers must shift their thinking and teach teens that involvement in earthly matters is more pressing than focus on eternal matters.

(earthly matters, or eternal/heavenly?)

The Bible says:

COLOSSIANS 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
-----------------------------------------
8. McLaren says: In the breakout session, McLaren said the world is moving from an era of modern thinking to an era of postmodern thinking and youth ministers must transition their teaching accordingly.
Though older Christian ministers may be able to remain in the bubble of modern thinking, youth pastors must trust God through this time of transition and make a change to new ways of thinking, he said.

(new ways of thinking?)

The Bible says:
Psalms 119:89 Forever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
The bible also says this about those who would attempt to twist the true meaning of the scriptures:

Gal. 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

see also infidels; deep-shift-deep-deception (attacking the Revelation)
These eight "comparisons", showing the utter disregard for truth, represent only a portion of the blatant and absolutely aberrant heresy that was force-fed to the youth by McLaren in his latest conference. Shameless in his open denial of and reinventing of scripture, the whole thing is simply a mechanism to merge Christianity into the antichrist one world global spirituality, and he's got open access to your kids. He's pied-piping the whole lot right into the strong delusion.....pastors, parents, teachers, save your kids from this, kids, save yourselves and your friends from this wretched false infidel globalized religious deception. It's designed to make you into a global volunteer social worker...for the Antichrist world system. And it already is anti-christ because it is a 'false jesus' being taught...it is "anti" i.e. against....the real gospel. That is antichrist. This is critically important.....be a 'solo penguin' if you have to!
